Ludo Stichelmeyer
Ludo started learning to play the accordion at music school at a young age. It was soon clear that he had more rhythm vibes than a mere interest in melody. In the final 3 years of accordion, he also took percussion on board. After the inspiration of blues and folk, the cajon entered his life: a groovy and swinging backline was born. Conga's, kick, hihat, and cymbals complete his set along with all sorts of percussion instruments. In addition to EmBRUN, he also plays in groups such as Triple-X, Los Pablos, EmBRIO, The fortunated few,...
Jonas Scheys
Jonas has just completed a classical guitar training course at Ghent college of music and has now started a training course for the chitarrone liuto at the same college.
He has also been fascinated by bass instruments for a long time and this is what he plays in this group: bass guitar and contrabass. Jonas is also active with EmBRIO, Transpiradansa, and various other projects.
Harald Baeweraerts
Harald grew up in a very musical family and therefore had the opportunity to learn to play the vielle at the very young age of 8.
By the age of 16, he already performed regularly in pubs, restaurants, and at all sorts of other outside events at various locations. His honours list at that age even included a TV interview broadcast by Ketnet.
Shortly afterwards, he started working together with the folk music groups Twalseree, AedO, and Lais as a guest musician. In the meantime, he was developing a strong interest in electronic and computer music and an opportunity soon arose to let his electro-acoustic vielle (Siorat) loose in public, albeit sometimes with a distorted sound. These performances were not limited solely to the groups mentioned above, but from that time onwards, he began to enjoy increasing success with other projects too such as Orgamusa, Midwinter concerts, Het Geluidshuis, Magister, Belgian Plastiks, Eurosong 2008 (Geena Lisa), Triple-XL, Beatball, and, of course, the fantastic folk group EmBRUN.
Pieterjan Van Kerckhoven
Pieterjan started age 8 with violin on the music academy of Beveren. Soon he changed violin for alto-saxophone and more recently also started tenor-saxophone. In the Secondary School his interest in folk music grew and at the age of 17 he started to learn bagpipe with Bart Van Troyen in the music academy of Sint-Niklaas. Since 2006 he has been following lessons with Jean-Pierre Van Hees on the Lemmensinstituut where besides bagpipe he studies also baroque musette. Pieterjan plays in the folk music group Surpluz, in duo Accordemuze, in the ball folk music group De Vreye Vrienden, in the saxophone quartet Sax4U and more recently he’s also active in EmBRUN.
